Kazakhstan is a growing agricultural market; modernisation of agricultural enterprises is being accelerated by state support. Agriculture accounted for more than 10 % of the GDP in Kazakhstan. Main agricultural produce in arable farming are wheat, barley, rice and cotton. In animal husbandry, the most important role take dairy products, meat, leather and wool.
For international suppliers of investment goods like agricultural machines and equipment, seeds, plant protection means, livestock etc., the market offers good perspectives for sales and cooperation.
The country with the enormous agricultural lands in Central Asia has become an attractive market for foreign suppliers of agricultural machinery and breeding animals. The market is especially interesting for agricultural machines, as Kazakhstan does not supply of an own agricultural machinery manufacturing industry.
Together with the Kazakh ExpoGroup, IFWexpo Heidelberg GmbH organise the exhibitions. The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) support this exhibition as official supporters from Europe.
Approx. 200 companies active in the agricultural or agricultural machinery and equipment sector participated in the exhibitions in 2011, among them companies from 19 countries — Australia, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Canada, Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Saudi-Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, USA and Kazakhstan. Official collective stands were present from Germany with support of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. Also France and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kazakhstan were present with group stands. Producers of veterinary products and poultry industry were present from the Russian Federation with support of the Centre of Veterinary Services (CVO).
Participation at the leading agricultural trade fair in the capital Astana, annual KazAgro/ KazFarm in autumn, opens up the possibility to contact the players in this market dealers, agrifood enterprises, representatives of politics and administration.
